Summer Camp!!

It is that time again for the sixth annual, “I Am Somebody G’Life Summer Camp.” The camp will run from May 31-July 29, 7:30am-5:30pm. We focus on principles that highlight self-esteem and respect for oneself and others. We also hope to promote what we call a culture of learning that not only engage campers in the arts of music, drama, oratory, poetry, and dance, but it is our prayer that we can also promote a desire for learning. Coupled with our scheduled field trips and other activities, we propose to teach by making learning an exciting enterprise. Our goal is to serve 50 campers that would provide a springboard into an after school ministry. To see what we are all about, please click here

Summer Camp!!

Dear Friend of G’Life,

As with our first five camps, we are not government funded, nor do we have funds coming from any foundations. We only participate in the Memphis City Schools Summer Lunch Program. The rest of our donations come from people like you. Therefore, we are asking for donations on three fronts.

First, we are asking for donations of time. We need volunteers to come and help us with the campers. We have the curriculum and materials; all we need are the willing bodies. We are looking for volunteers who can come any day of the week and commit at least three hours per day.

Second, we are also looking for donations of games, art supplies, balls, learning flash cards, etc., anything that children would find exciting. I have found that many of us have stuff just “lying around the house” collecting dust. If you fall into that category, please consider putting those items to good use by bringing them here for the campers.

Third, we are in need of monetary donations. As you might imagine, $40.00 per week per child ($8.00 per day) does not begin to cover all the expenses that are involved in this summer camp. Since our goal is to make the camp as affordable as possible, we are in need of monetary donations that will help us with food, field trips, transportation costs, and other incidentals that may arise.

If you have any questions or want to donate in any of these ways, please call me at 272-7337 or 674-8123. For monetary donations please click here

Or if you would rather mail a check, please address it to:
